VacPack is the cheaper bag with more listed volume: $169.99 for 30 to 55 liters. The Black Voyage Zephyr Pro costs $239.99 to $319.99 but includes its pump, lists a waterproof vacuum chamber and carries a lifetime warranty. Pick VacPack for price, Zephyr Pro for long, wet trips, or the Flovir Air Pro (from $149) as a third option.
Disclosure: we make that third option, the Flovir Air Pro vacuum backpack. We haven't run hands-on tests of the VacPack or the Zephyr Pro. This page compares what each brand lists on its own site (checked October 2026), plus the hands-on VacPack review Consumer Reports published in June 2025.
VacPack vs Black Voyage: the quick verdict
- Choose the VacPack if price matters most and you want the biggest listed capacity under $200.
- Choose the Black Voyage Zephyr Pro if you want a pump in the box, a lifetime warranty and a bag built for rain.
- Look at the Flovir Air Pro if you need a size that fits an 18 x 14 x 8 inch personal-item limit, or a 90-day return window with a prepaid label.

How do the prices compare once you add the pump?
The VacPack wins on sticker price. At $169.99 it's $70 to $150 less than the larger Zephyr Pro, and VacPack's purchase options list the Pocket Vacuum as a free gift.
Two small costs sit around the edges. VacPack's banner lists free shipping on orders over $200, and one backpack comes in under that. Black Voyage's free return label and waived restocking fee only apply if you add its Shipping Protection at checkout ($4.99 as listed).
Which one fits under an airplane seat?
Based on published dimensions, neither of the larger bags is a personal item on airlines with an 18 x 14 x 8 inch limit. American Airlines lists exactly that limit (checked Oct 2026). The VacPack is 19.3 inches long and 9.8 inches deep; the Zephyr Pro 35→60L is 18.9 by 9.25 inches.
At their listed depth, both are also slightly over the 9-inch depth in American's 22 x 14 x 9 inch carry-on limit. Packed less than full, they'll be thinner. Measure yours at home before the airport does it for you.
The smaller Zephyr Pro 24→35L comes closest at 18.11 x 12.01 x 8.86 inches. One more note: VacPack's own site lists two different sizes on different pages (9.8 inches deep on the backpack page, "19 x 13 x 6–8" on another). Check personal item sizes by airline for your carrier.
How much can each one hold?
VacPack lists 30 liters regular and 55 liters with the extension and compression, and says it "fits 5x more" than a regular backpack. Black Voyage lists 35 liters base, 50 expanded and 60 with its vacuum system, and claims "up to 57% more packing space" with its pump.
These are brand figures, not independent tests. Remember that compressed liters are clothes squeezed flat; they don't change the weight on your back.
Which pump is better?
Black Voyage gives more detail. Its FAQ says to charge the Vortex pump at least 3 hours before first use and that one charge lasts up to 20 uses; it lists 60 kPa of suction.
VacPack's Pocket Vacuum is the one Consumer Reports tested. Their reviewer found it "compressed clothing as promised," but said it was bulkier than expected and needed a 6-hour charge before first use.
At the time, the pump was sold separately and took 12 days to arrive. Today the VacPack page lists it as a free gift.
Which is more waterproof and durable?
Black Voyage puts the most into this. It lists an IPX8 waterproof vacuum chamber, YKK water-repellent zippers and three shell fabrics, including 1680-denier Cordura and X-Pac VX21. It also lists Red Dot and iF design awards.
VacPack lists recycled Oxford cloth described as waterproof and wear-resistant, a padded laptop compartment for up to 16-inch laptops, a code lock and a hidden pocket.
What are the return policies and warranties?
This is where the two differ most. Black Voyage takes returns within 30 days of delivery for unused items with tags, and charges a 10% restocking fee plus return shipping unless you bought Shipping Protection. Its warranty is lifetime for manufacturing defects, not wear and tear.
VacPack's product page advertises a 30-day satisfaction guarantee, but its refund policy page says 14 days, a 30% restocking fee for returns for personal reasons, and 24 hours to report a defect on arrival. Consumer Reports also flagged the short return window. Read both pages before you order.
VacPack review summary: who is it best for?
Best for a buyer on a budget who wants a lot of volume and is fine checking the fit at home on day one. Not ideal if you need a true personal item or want room to change your mind after a trip.
Black Voyage Zephyr review summary: who is it best for?
Best for long trips, rainy places and people who keep bags for years. Not ideal if you're weight-sensitive (up to 5.22 lb empty) or shopping under $200.
Where does the Flovir Air Pro fit in?
The Air Pro sits between them. It starts at $149 with the rechargeable vacuum included, weighs 3.5–4 lb, and has a 3-year warranty, free US shipping and 90-day returns with a prepaid label.
Based on published dimensions, the 17-inch Air Pro (17 x 12.6 x 6–8 in) fits an 18 x 14 x 8 inch personal-item limit when the depth stays at 8 inches or less. The 19-inch version is a carry-on.
What it gives up: 22–48 liters is less than the VacPack's or the Zephyr Pro's top figure, and Black Voyage's lifetime warranty and waterproof chamber go further than ours. Like every vacuum bag, you need the pump to repack, some fabrics wrinkle, and one sealed chamber means unsealing to reach one shirt.

VacPack vs Black Voyage: FAQ
Is the VacPack worth it?
For the price, it lists a lot of volume, and Consumer Reports found the compression worked. The weak spots are the return terms (14 days and a 30% restocking fee per its refund policy) and a listed depth that's over most personal-item limits.
Does the Black Voyage Zephyr Pro come with a pump?
Yes. Black Voyage's product FAQ says the Zephyr Pro includes the Vortex Diaphragm Pump. Charge it at least 3 hours before the first use.
Is the Black Voyage Zephyr a personal item?
Not on airlines with an 18 x 14 x 8 inch limit, based on its published dimensions. The 35→60L model is 18.9 x 12.8 x 9.25 inches. Check your airline's own page.
Which vacuum backpack has the best warranty?
As listed in Oct 2026, Black Voyage offers a lifetime warranty on manufacturing defects. Flovir offers 3 years. VacPack lists 1 year on its Pocket Vacuum and no warranty term on the bag's product page.
